Welcome to the Meadow Equine Practice website About Us We are a dedicated Equine Veterinary Practice based at the nationally and internationally renowned sports horse stud; the Meadow Stud in the small village of Birdwood just outside of Gloucester. We are a longstanding practice having been functioning for over 20 years, and having been based at our current location at Meadow Stud for over 15 years. Mr B.W.Paterson BVetMed Cert ESM MRCVS and Mr C.M.Paterson BVsc MRCVS are our Veterinary Surgeons and they are backed up by our loyal and enthusiastic office team.  We function as an ambulatory service covering all aspects of modern equine veterinary care, offering a high standard of care for our clients and our equine patients. We carry out many visits each day with a full range of fully mobile equipment, to yards and establishments to see our equine patients. The practice regularly covers an extensive area including the western counties of England and the Welsh bordering areas. We work with a wide-range of horses from Flat and National-Hunt Racehorses, Breeding stock, and Competition Horses through to Hunt Horses and Show Horses. We also supply cover for many events locally including local shows to race meetings and point to points, as well as Veterinary cover for sales and auctions across the UK. We work very closely with many paraprofessionals when needed including qualified equine dentists, physiotherapists, chiropractors and farriers.    We have a particular interest and experience in Equine Stud Medicine, as such this area of work makes up a large proportion of our caseload. Due to our experience in Equine Stud Medicine we regularly travel, under special arrangement, to breeders and producers further out of our normal catchment area to consult on and undertake work in this field. We are always on hand for advice regarding the best way to approach equine reproduction for every situation imaginable to try and get the best results for owners and their horses. The practice supplies a vast range of reproductive services from our base at Meadow Stud, accepting mares at the centre being bred to non-resident stallions as well as overseeing the breeding of mares to the stud's current stallions. These services range from fresh, chilled and frozen artificial insemination to a unique foaling service, stallion fertility assessment, problem-breeder investigation and foal intensive care if required.
